Food blogger Deb Perelman, the voice behind the popular Smitten Kitchen website, is set to release her second cookbook, Smitten Kitchen Every Day: Triumphant & Unfussy New Favorites, on October 24. The book, which took five years to write, is now available for pre-order, with several special options for readers.
To mark the upcoming launch, Perelman has released a trailer for the book, filmed in her own kitchen. The video, which involved the entire family, including Jacob and Anna, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the cookbook.
Fans looking for a personal touch can pre-order signed copies through The Strand, an independent bookstore in Perelman's neighborhood. When ordering, customers can request a personalized inscription, with examples ranging from birthday messages to playful notes about household chores. Perelman notes that she will inscribe all books before the release date to ensure they arrive by October 24.
For readers in the UK, the publication date has been moved up to December 7, just in time for the holiday season. To celebrate the earlier release, the UK publisher, Square Peg, is offering a free printed recipe card for a sweet treat that didn't make it into the book. UK readers who pre-order and send a screenshot of their confirmation (with personal details redacted) to the publisher via Twitter, Instagram, or email by September 21 will receive the card.
In addition to the book's release, Perelman has announced a multi-city book tour, The Smitten Kitchen Every Day Book Tour. The tour will kick off this fall, with dates and locations available on the book tour and events page. More cities, including Minneapolis, Nashville, Denver, Atlanta, Montreal, and an additional New York City event, are expected to be added after Thanksgiving.
The announcement comes as the Smitten Kitchen website celebrates its 11th anniversary, a milestone marked by over 270,000 comments on nearly 1,200 recipes. Perelman says that while the online community has been a favorite part of the site, meeting readers in person during the tour is something she looks forward to.
With the release date fast approaching, the cookbook is already generating interest among home cooks and fans of the blog. The combination of personalized inscriptions, an early UK release, and a nationwide tour offers multiple ways for readers to engage with the book and its author.
